2007 Academy Costs and Time Frames
The 2007 Idaho Victim Assistance Academy Basic was offered June 10–15, 2007 on the campus of Boise State University. The cost to students for registration, all course materials, and room and board for the week was $500. Scholarships were available. The IVAA offered P.O.S.T. Credits, Continuing Education Credits, Certification, and a Certificate of Graduation. The next IVAA basic academy will be offered in June 2009.
2008 Academy Costs and Time Frames
The 2008 Idaho Victim Assistance Academy Advanced will be offered June 8–13, 2008 on the campus of Boise State University. The cost to students for registration, all course materials, and room and board for the week will be $500. Scholarships will be available. Students will be required to be onsite for the entire academy. The 2008 IVAA will offer P.O.S.T. Credits, Continuing Education Credits, Certification, and a Certificate of Graduation. Applications can be downloaded from this website on or after January 1, 2008.
Who Should Attend?
IVAA Basic – Professionals who work with crime victims, including: law enforcement, victim witness coordinators, crime victim service providers, governmental resource staff, advocates, criminal justice personnel, health care professionals, and allied professionals with five or fewer year’s direct experience working with crime victims. Twenty-five eligible students will be selected.
IVAA Advanced – Professionals who work with crime victims, including: law enforcement, victim witness coordinators, crime victim service providers, governmental resource staff, advocates, criminal justice personnel, health care professionals, and allied professionals with five or more year’s direct experience working with crime victims. Twenty-five eligible students will be selected.
In 2007, the IVAA student body was comprised of law enforcement (28 percent), corrections personnel (4 percent), community based victim advocates (28 percent), social services staff (8 percent), government agency staff (8 percent), tribal government staff (4 percent), community advocacy organization staff (4 percent), and victim witness staff (16 percent).
Academy Scholarships
U.S. DOJ Office of Victims of Crime TTAC: Full scholarships covering registration, materials, and room and board are available. To obtain an application and the eligibility criteria visit the website: www.ovcttac.org/taResources/scholarship.cfm.
Idaho Council on Domestic Violence & Victim Assistance: If your agency receives VOCA funding, these funds may be used for travel and attendance at the IVAA. Contact the ICDVVA for more information.
NOVA Credentialing Training Hours
The IVAA meets the requirements for the 40 hours of core curriculum for pre-service training required by NOVA for the National Advocate Credentialing Program. Other criteria may be required in addition to the 40 hour training to receive NOVA certification. Please contact NOVA at www.trynova.org for additional information.
Academy Credit Option

Application Process
Applications will be available on this website as of January 1st for that year’s Academy. In order to be eligible for selection, candidates must submit a completed application, including a letter of recommendation from your supervisor. Applications must be received by March 1st of the IVAA year.
IVAA registration fees will be due upon notification of selection. If you are unable to attend the Academy due to unexpected circumstances please notify IVAA as soon as possible. No fees will be refunded IVAA is notified of the cancellation within seven (7) days prior to the Academy start date. If IVAA is notified of the cancellation before the (7) days prior to the Academy start date, 50% of the Academy registration fee will be refunded.

Applications for the 2008 IVAA Advanced for professionals with five years or more experience are now available on this website. Applications are due April 12, 2008.
